Medical Camp
Update
The team's resilience was inspiring as they faced the depth of poverty and need in Kangundo. Equally inspiring was the resilience and spirit of the people of Kangundo, who live with dignity and face challenges with a strength that the team deeply admired. The teams' presence, even for a short time, meant a lot to the community, as evident from the warm welcome they received.
Over several days, the medical team saw nearly 1,500 patients treating various urgent and chronic conditions. Other simple interventions were life-changing, such as an older gentleman who waited three days to see the optometrist. All he needed were reading glasses, and when they were handed to him, he didn’t want to use the eye chart. Instead, he whipped out his tiny Bible and beamed when he realized he could read again after being unable to read it for many years. This is just one of the many heartwarming stories that our teams have brought back from Kangundo.
While the medical team was busy seeing patients, the community team spent five days building three quality toilet outhouses alongside members of the receiving families. One family member continually expressed his gratitude that people would come from so far away to provide materials and help build a toilet for his family.
Our service teams are a testament to the power of service and its profound impact on individuals. Team members underwent a significant shift in their perspectives and a deepening of their understanding of the challenges faced by the marginalized people Kizimani serves. They were exposed to a different way of life, with vastly different conditions, and many returned home with a newfound appreciation for the abundance in their lives.
Your support for this year’s teams has been invaluable. We want you to know that your contribution has made a significant difference, no matter how big or small. Together, we are bringing new hope to many and paving the way for a brighter future that transcends the barriers of poverty. Your support is not just a number, it's a life-changing force.
As we look towards the future, we hope that you will continue to stand with us in our mission to bring hope and change to those in need.
We are deeply grateful for your support.
